If your silver jewellery is heavily tarnished and does not contain any stones, you can clean it some simple household ingredients, you will need:

Aluminium kitchen foil; Bicarbonate of soda; Heatproof dish (not metal)

Lightly crumple the foil and use to line the base of your dish (shiny side up)Place your jewellery on the foil (the silver needs to be in contact with the foil to work)Sprinkle over a couple of tablespoons of bicarbonate of sodaPour over water which has just boiled TAKE CARE: bicarbonate of soda will cause the water to fizz upOnce cooled remove your jewellery and rinse thoroughly before drying with a soft clothOnce dry a silver polishing cloth can also be used

If your silver is heavily tarnished, you might need to repeat the process more than once.
